Summer, oh so dry Phoenix summer will be here soon to wreak havoc on your skin. The dry, heated air accelerates water loss from skin cells, causing tight, dry skin and yes, accelerated aging – yay! But fear not, here’s an easy, yummy solution…Skin Glow Juice. Just prepare the recipe below every morning and your skin will thank you.

Drinking your wrinkles away may sound silly but the idea that nutrition plays a role in healthy skin isn’t silly at all. Eating well is good for your health and therefore, good for your skin – it’s just logical. [read more]

Before we get to the recipe, let’s talk about what’s in it and why it’s good for your skin (we recommend using all organic):

Apples – Preferably Granny Smith

Apples are great for preventing cell and tissue damage, wrinkles and aging. An apple a day not only keeps the doctor away but will also make you glow! Rich in Vitamin A, B complex, vitamin C and minerals gives them nourishing and hydrating properties which provides the skin with the correct amount of fluid to make it supple.

Carrots

The beta carotene in carrots is a skin-friendly nutrient that when converted to vitamin A inside the body, helps repair skin tissues while also protecting skin from harmful ultraviolet (UV) damage making this one a great anti-ager for the skin.

Oranges & Lemons

The rich nutrient content of oranges & lemons, including vitamin C, can effectively fight free radicals which helps repair and rejuvenate the skin, maintain skin’s elasticity, help with wound healing, build connective tissue, provide antibacterial and antioxidant support, boost collagen production, encourage cell turnover, prevent and reduce pigmentation, and help diminish and prevent fine lines, wrinkles, and stretchmarks.

Ginger

Ginger is a root superfood that has wonderful skin rejuvenation properties. It’s high antioxidant content can aid in the reduction in the appearance of scars and help reduce inflammation. Also, it’s ability to dampen collagen breakdown in the body makes it great for anti-aging too.

Cucumbers

Cucumbers contain both vitamin C and folic acid. Vitamin C has the ability to stimulate new cell growth, while folic acid aids in fighting off environmental toxins that can make your skin look tired or prematurely aged. Combined, these components may help your skin look firmer and healthier.

Hint: Boosting your skin’s radiance through diet is not just about what to eat but not what to eat as well. Try eliminating or reducing the following foods for added benefit and watch your skin really start to glow: dairy, sugar, white bread, processed foods & fast food.
